Strand of Hair

Something curly
Something stringy
On my teeth
And in between-y
Tickles at my throat


Something hanging
Something dangling
Not to sweet
But slightly tangy
Wraps around my tongue


Rubbing slowly
Maybe growing
Sticks to cheeks
While hardly moving
Causes me to sweat


I tried bringing
Forward with fingering
No success
Remains lingering
Warm inside my mouth


Took up coughing
Then was swallowing
Rather futilely
Now I’m wallowing
Deep inside my fear


Afraid of gagging
Maybe choking
Quite absurd
It would be croaking
From a strand of hair
